Wouters, Karin
Karin Wouters brings over 30 years of global experience in education to her role as Principal. Originally from the Netherlands, she has taught and led schools in Australia, the UK, and her home country, developing a passion for fostering inclusive, future-focused learning environments.
With advanced degrees in Educational Leadership and Education, Karin combines academic expertise with a hands-on approach to creating schools where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Her leadership style emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and preparing students for a rapidly changing world.
Karin is also actively involved in international education networks, ensuring that her schools remain connected to the latest global developments. Beyond the school gates, she enjoys travel, literature, and sports, bringing a well-rounded perspective to her role.
Hum, Sofia
Sofia brings experience and a global perspective to her role as Vice Principal of Primary at ISB. Originally from Australia, Sofia holds a degree in Art Theory from the University of New South Wales in Sydney and a Communications degree from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. Sofia’s diverse background includes working as a television writer and teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) to both adults and children. Her journey at ISB began as a Homeroom and Art teacher, where her passion for creativity and education flourished. She later took on the role of Assessment Coordinator, further enhancing her deep understanding of student development and academic excellence. In addition to her extensive teaching experience, Sofia has earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Leeds University in England. Fluent in both English and Hungarian, she is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment for all students at ISB.
Hughes, Claire
Claire has worked in international education for over fifteen years, across three continents and nine countries. Originally from the Yorkshire countryside in England, she has always been driven by curiosity and a desire to explore the world through books, travel and conversation. Alongside her undergraduate degree in Drama and Theatre Studies, she holds a Cambridge DELTA and a PGCE with distinction in Secondary English from the University of Nottingham. Her interest in inclusive practice also led her to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Language, Literacies and Dyslexia. She believes that education should encourage exploration, foster a sense of belonging, and give young people the confidence to ask big questions, construct meaning from different perspectives, and take responsibility for the part they play in the world around them.
Szücs, Daniel
Daniel is from a Hungarian family but grew up in Birmingham in the UK. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Warwick and then completed his PGCE and QTS at the University of Cambridge. After teaching in schools between London and Cambridge, he moved to Budapest in 2019 and has been teaching at ISB ever since, working his way up the ranks until the position of IBDP Coordinator in 2023.
Middle Leadership Team
Almádi, Andrea
Andrea graduated from Apor Vilmos College with a degree in Primary Education and Church Music before studying Music Education, Choral Conducting and Music Theory at Eötvös Loránd University, where she later completed a Master's degree. Music and singing have been a part of her life from an early age. Over the years, she has taught recorder, piano and music theory in music schools, as well as classical music subjects in the Jazz Department at Kodolányi János College. She also spent three years in England, working in a primary school with children from different year groups and leading phonics and reading sessions, music activities and assemblies. Andrea joined the ISB team in 2015 and has been teaching Music ever since. She loves helping children discover the joy of music while developing their creativity, confidence and ability to work together. As the Primary Wellbeing Lead, she works to ensure that every child feels safe, valued and supported, and enjoys coming to school. In her free time, she sings in a female choir, plays the organ and leads the ISB Staff Choir.
Béres, Lilla
Lilla completed her BA in Psychology at the University of Pécs, Hungary and later on her MSc in School Psychology in the Netherlands. Before she began her journey to understand the human mind, she had the privilege to study in different countries, such as Romania, China and the USA. All these different countries, cultures and people not only helped her to build a diverse and rich foundation for her higher education but also helped her to become a more open-minded and curious person. She was first introduced to Psychology in high school through the IB program. Back then, she didn’t think it would become something which she pursued and expanded her knowledge of to this day. For three years, she worked as a school social worker with the aim to learn the child protection system, which she believes is essential when working with minors, and also to help where help is needed the most. Throughout these three years I had individual cases and I also implemented prevention groups, team building exercises and sociometry for elementary and high school students. In her free time, she plays in a Division II futsal team.
Farmer, Julianna
Julianna is originally from Hungary and spent 15 years living in the United States, where she graduated from high school and earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from England. She has many years of experience working in education, both in the United States and Hungary.
Since joining ISB, Julianna has worked across the Primary School in both teaching and leadership roles. In addition to her work as a classroom teacher, she serves as the school's Assessment Coordinator and Hungarian Curriculum Coordinator. She is passionate about creating a welcoming, supportive learning environment where students feel secure, valued, and confident to learn and grow.
Jeszenszky, Márton
Márton is a Hungarian-born Spanish teacher with over 15 years of experience. After studying in Budapest and Barcelona, he graduated from ELTE and has taught learners of all ages, finding that he connects especially well with school-aged students and enjoys getting to know how young minds think. He aims to inspire students to see languages as tools that open doors to new information, opportunities and experiences. He uses innovative teaching strategies that make learning effective and enjoyable, and believes in mutual respect and inspiration. He is also experienced in curriculum development, dictionary editing, and teaching English and Hungarian as a Second Language. In his free time, he enjoys studying languages, doing improv theatre, playing music, and works as a dubbing dramaturge. Besides his job at ISB, he is also a mentor at Milestone Institute, where he provides academic orientation and guidance to mentees planning to pursue university studies abroad.
Kahriman, Sergej
Graduating with a master’s degree from the University of Sport and Physical Education in Serbia, Sergej then moved to the United States where he worked as a teacher alongside running a personal training business for over a decade. Sergej believes that sports and exercise are essential to student development, promoting physical health, teamwork, and overall well-being. Since joining ISB, he has played a key role in expanding the physical education and IB CAS program by introducing new sports, organizing athletic trips and competitions, and creating opportunities for students to build skills, confidence, and collaboration.
Vajnai, Amrita Cikra
After growing up in the UK, Cikra returned to Hungary as a young adult and is fluent in both English and Hungarian.
Cikra is an experienced educator with over a decade of teaching experience. She holds a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies as well as a PGCE from Leeds Beckett University. Her professional experience spans kindergarten and primary education, as well as teaching drama and art, with much of her career spent in international school settings.
Cikra has developed a particular passion for cross-curricular learning and enjoys creating meaningful connections between subjects. She frequently integrates art into literacy and other areas of the curriculum, encouraging students to express their ideas creatively while developing their academic skills.
Outside of school, she enjoys reading, painting, playing music, hiking with her dogs and practising yoga.

Aydinli, Merve
Ángyás, Erzsébet
Erzsi is a qualified conductor from the International Petö Institute and is a qualified primary school teacher from the Budapest College of Teacher Training. In addtion, she is also a qualified special education teacher from the Budapest College of Special Education. She also possesses a university master’s degree in education with specialisation in curriculum theory from the University of Szeged. She joined ISB in 2014 and supports children with learning difficulties, conducts pedagogical assessments and also participates in teaching.
Beleznay, Ferenc
Blasco, Juan
Originally from Spain, Juan is a Third Grade Homeroom Teacher at ISB. He graduated in Primary Education with the University’s Extraordinary Degree Award, specialises in special educational needs and maintains close links with research at the University of Zaragoza. Having lived in Türkiye, Bulgaria, Switzerland and Hungary, interculturality has become an essential part of his life and classroom. He sees teaching as an art and believes that every child has something powerful to communicate when given the right language—whether through words, images or creativity. Known for his seemingly endless energy, Juan now coordinates Butterflies Across Borders, connecting children and schools around the world through art, culture and identity.
Bukvic, Milana
Born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, Milana holds a BA in Spanish Language and Hispanic Literatures and an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Belgrade, with her undergraduate studies complemented by a year abroad at the University of Granada, Spain. Shaped by many international experiences—ranging from a high school exchange in Iowa, USA, to an internship in Hamburg, Germany—and driven by a deep curiosity about world cultures and passion for languages, she has worked as a Spanish, English, and Serbian translator, as well as a language teacher since 2017. Prior to joining ISB, she taught students of various ages and proficiency levels in Vietnam and Uzbekistan.
Burhán, Zsófia
Ms. Sophia was born in Pécs, Hungary, and completed her Primary School Teacher BA at Kaposvár University. During her studies, she spent one year in Turkey as an Erasmus student, an experience that deeply influenced both her personal and professional path. After graduating, she decided to return to Turkey, where she spent ten inspiring years.
During this time, she learned the Turkish language and culture, worked as an English teacher for many years, and also had an amazing adventure as a flight attendant for two years. After moving there, she married her Turkish husband, and Turkey truly became a second home for her. These diverse experiences greatly broadened her perspective and strengthened her ability to connect with people from different cultural backgrounds.
After the birth of her daughter, Lily, she happily returned to teaching — a profession that truly feels like home to her.
Last summer, she moved back to Hungary with her family after ten years in Istanbul, while they continue to travel back occasionally to visit family and enjoy holidays there.
In her free time, she loves travelling and discovering new places. She enjoys reading, which helps her recharge and continue learning.
She is very happy to be part of the ISB community and look forward to supporting her students’ growth, curiosity, and love of learning.
Chien-Szegedy, Jolan
Jolan is a California born Chinese-Hungarian with a BA in Visual Communications and an MFA in Illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Since moving abroad to Budapest, she obtained her PGCE while working in international schools leading a range of curriculum from core subjects to humanities. Her focus developed into Visual Arts specialization that utilizes her multidisciplinary backgrounds in fine arts, graphic design and new media. She is passionate about nurturing creativity and global mindedness. She engages students through hands-on activities that often integrate STEAM and digital tools to enhance learning. She loves seeing students share their own perspectives and encourages them to continually raise the bar of their potential. Outside of teaching Jolan is an avid computer gamer, tree hugger and foodie who dreams of one day settling in a cozy, fairytale cottage.
Craymer, Soussan
Soussan has been working for over 10 years at the ISB as an ELL support teacher. Before coming to Hungary she worked in a number of schools in London. She has three boys who completed their primary education at the ISB. She enjoys music and playing the piano.
Dela Cruz, Olivia
Olivia dela Cruz is originally from the Philippines and is delighted to begin her first year at ISB, celebrating her 19th year as an educator. She studied Literature and holds a master’s degree in English Studies and Instruction. Her love for teaching has taken her on an incredible journey through the Philippines, Mongolia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and now Hungary. Olivia is very excited to become part of the ISB community, get to know her students and their families, and share a joyful year filled with learning, curiosity, creativity, and growth.
Dela Cruz, Ronald
Ronald dela Cruz is from the Philippines and is delighted to begin his first year at ISB. He brings many years of international teaching experience, having taught in the Philippines, Mongolia, the Czech Republic, and Poland before moving to Hungary. With a passion for Science and Physics, Ronald enjoys helping students become curious, confident learners who are not afraid to ask questions and explore how the world works. He is very excited to be part of the ISB community and looks forward to a wonderful year of learning and discovery with his students.
Erdélyi, Krisztina
Fejes, Ágnes
Ms.
Ms. Ági grew up in a village in the Great Plain, Hungary. During her childhood years, it was her dream to become a teacher, and her favourite subject was science. Therefore, it is not a surprise that she has done her master’s degree in environmental science at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. After her university years, she moved to London. She returned to her childhood dream, and she worked in a few schools – although not as a teacher but as a laboratory technician. She gained British citizenship a few years ago. After ten years in England, she started to miss her homeland and she eventually moved back to Hungary. She hoped that she still would have the opportunity to work in an international school environment. That is how they found each other with ISB, where she feels that while preparing and assisting the science experiments, she does not only work, but she lives for her passion.
Ferenczy, Marika
Marika is from Transylvania. She’s been living in Hungary for 34 years. She has been working at ISB since its foundation, especially with prep and lower grade students. Marika loves woodwork, gardening and reading. Her woodcraft club is very popular both for boys and girls.
Fülöp, Evelin
Ms. Evelin’s passion for different languages and cultures dates back to her primary and secondary school years, as these subjects were always among her favourites, and she followed the lessons with great enthusiasm. From the second year of secondary school onwards, she consciously oriented herself in this direction. She obtained her BA degree in Hungarian Linguistic and Literature in 2021 at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE).
She began gaining professional experience relatively early, as during her studies she worked with students preparing for their school-leaving exams (érettségi) and central entrance examinations (központi felvételi), as well as providing remedial tutoring. She taught both individually and in groups at a small private educational institution.
In 2023, she completed her Master’s degree in Hungarology (Hungarian Studies), with a specialisation in Hungarian as a Foreign Language, also at ELTE. Thanks to one of her professors, she had the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge she had previously encountered only in theory: alongside her studies, she taught Erasmus and Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship students at the university as a visiting lecturer. She greatly enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm for the Hungarian language and culture
and working with students, and this experience confirmed that teaching was truly her chosen career path. Motivated by this, she also completed teacher training Master’s programmes in Hungarian Language and Literature and Hungarian as a Foreign Language at ELTE in 2024.
In addition to these experiences, Ms. Evelin has had the opportunity to work in several other educational settings, including teaching Hungarian to foreigners at various language schools. In these institutions, she worked with learners of different ages and nationalities, an experience she greatly enjoyed. It also gave her the opportunity to learn more about her students’ cultures and languages. She considers this to be at the core of her teaching philosophy: openness towards one another, as well as mutual respect and trust.
Gál-Pap, Orsolya
Ms. Orsi graduated from the Vilmos Apor Catholic College with a degree in elementary education in 2009. She has been working at ISB since 2012, and since 2019 she has worked as a homeroom teacher in Primary School In 2018, she completed a professional development program for special education teachers, so she also provides individualized support for students at the school. She has been leading the school's ceramics club in the afternoons for three years now. She lives in a small village in the countryside with her extended family and their pets. Her three sons are college students; she is an amateur athlete whose favorite sport is volleyball, and in addition to playing on an amateur team, she is a member of the school's teachers' team. She is passionate about books and reading.
Gyalog, Eszter
Eszter Gyalog teaches Mathematics at ISB. Having lived abroad, she enjoy working in an international environment and learning from different cultures. She is passionate about helping students develop confidence in their problem-solving skills and discover that mathematics is much more than numbers. In her free time, she enjoys sports, travelling, and exploring new places.
Horvat, Kathy
Originally from Canada, Kathy began her teaching career in her home country before teaching in Fiji, Austria, and now Hungary. She holds an undergraduate degree from Queen’s University, specializing in Biology and Psychology, followed by a B.Ed. Her love of travel and experiencing new cultures has shaped her approach to teaching. Kathy believes that hands-on, experiential learning helps students develop curiosity, motivation, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. She is committed to creating a supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Ide, Juliet
Jenei, Attila
Attila was born in Debrecen, Hungary, but has been living in Budapest for more than 10 years. He attended secondary school in Eger and then spent his university years at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Energy Engineering. Then he earned a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. Since then, he has been conducting research at the university, focusing on the use of artificial intelligence on speech-related disorders. Since then, he has participated in several scientific conferences both locally and abroad, and has published multiple scientific papers. His basic and applied research is based on mathematics, computer science, biology, and physics.
Katona, Noémi
Noémi was born in Budapest. She has been involved in sports since she was very young, and her journey has taken her from competing as a gymnast to a national team platform diver and later on to teaching Physical Education in Hungarian state schools. Along the way, she also gained international experience working as an activity animator in Greece and Cyprus.
Through these experiences, she has learned how powerful sports and movement can be in building confidence, teamwork, and joy. She can’t wait to share this passion with her students and to inspire them in class and beyond.
Koczkás, Sára
Sara was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. After completing her BA degrees in Hungary, she moved to China to study Chinese, and subsequently went on to complete a master’s degree in Economics at Shanghai University. After moving back to Hungary, she worked in business consulting while pursuing a PhD in cross-cultural management. During her eight years in higher education, focusing on teaching and researching business and management, her growing interest in how people learn and how educators can support learning more effectively led her to complete a master’s degree in Teaching Economics and Business Studies. She is passionate about making learning meaningful, practical and student-centred, while helping students understand their strengths and explore pathways that align with their interests, aspirations and future goals. She particularly enjoys supporting young people as they navigate both their learning and career choices.
Kovács, Dóra
Dóra studied Hungarian Language and Literature, as well as History, at the University of Szeged, and European Studies at the University of Malta. After graduating, she felt it was important to continue her educational journey, which led her to participate in numerous Hungarian and international teacher training courses and conferences in recent years. This is how she connected with the Centropa organisation, with which she actively collaborates and where she is the Hungarian Representative on their Educational Advisory Board. As she considers it important for the school community to have opportunities for various international projects, she is one of the coordinators of our school’s Erasmus+ programme.
Her recent interests include the methodology of history teaching, 20th-century history, and remembrance politics. She is also a theatre enthusiast and previously volunteered for many years at the ’Thealter’ festival in Szeged, where she loved to see what goes on beyond the stage. She seeks to share her enthusiasm for theatre and contemporary literature with her students.
In her free time, she loves reading, traveling, jogging in the City Park and enjoys Budapest’s diverse cultural life.
Koltcova, Olga
Olga is from St. Petersburg, Russia. She holds a Master's and a Bachelor's degree in Early Foreign Language Education and in Intercultural communication from the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia. She has taught English as a foreign language in university, in both primary and high school, and also kindergarten. She also has experience teaching Russian as a foreign language – first as a Fulbright scholar in the University of Pennsylvania in the USA and then at an international school in St. Petersburg. She enjoys teaching Primary as she believes that this is where the foundation for happy and successful school life is laid.
Leisztinger-Tóth, Adrienn
Adrienn has been working at ISB since 2001. During the past 25 yeaers she has been teaching ELL, Science and Mathematics for Middle School and also a qualified fascilitator for IB TOK. She has gained her diploma for primary education from the University of Glasgow. Apart from teaching, she has been organizing the chess life at ISB.
Magonyi, Csanád
He was born and raised in the South of Hungary, in Villány. Since he was a kid he has loved every single form of sports, especially Soccer made a great impression on him. That is why he dedicated most of his time to it. After all he decided to pursue his education at the University of Sport Sciences in Budapest. During this time he acquired all the tricks to sports and physical educations. Amid my studies he worked as a Soccer coach, where he learned and improved his teaching skills. Throughout his internships he had the opportunity to try himself as a P.E. teacher as well and learned how to pass on his knowledge to students.
Megyeri, Ágnes
Ms. Ági has worked as a primary school teacher for the past ten years, starting out in state schools before joining ISB in 2022. She graduated from Eötvös Loránd University in 2015 with a degree in Primary Education and a specialization in German and later earned a degree in Special Education for Learning Disabilities in 2025. This year, she is the homeroom teacher for Class 4.B and also leads the Hungarian and Mathematics clubs for the lower grades.
Ortega, Patricia
Patricia Ortega is originally from Ecuador and has made Hungary her home. She holds two master’s degrees in education and works with Primary students at ISB as the EAL Coordinator, supporting children as they develop their English and become more confident in the classroom.
This year, Patricia is also involved in the school’s Eco Committee, where she enjoys working with students on simple, practical ways to care for the environment and make the school a greener place.
She especially enjoys the creative side of teaching and getting to know the different personalities, cultures, and stories that children bring into the classroom. One of the most rewarding parts of her work is seeing students overcome difficulties in English and realizing that her support and intervention have helped them make real progress and become more confident learners.
Outside school, Patricia enjoys swimming, spending time with her family, and finding new things to learn and try.
Perger, Ágnes
She graduated as a primary school teacher at Zsámbék Catholic University in 1997, then she got her English language teacher degree at Kodolányi János University in 2003. Ágnes also has a degree from ELTE as a learning development therapist. She has been teaching at ISB since 2002, and also has been a homeroom teacher for several classes. Two years ago she finished a DSZIT course, so she became a sensory development pedagogist. She has two children, with whom she loves to spend her spare time. She takes yoga classes and loves running.
Polgár, Lea
Lea graduated from the University of Veszprém in 2008 as a German and History teacher, having completed her History studies in Szombathely. She has several years of teaching experience and is passionate about creating a positive and engaging learning environment for her students. She also spent 12 years living in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, which gave her valuable first-hand experience of the German language and culture. She believes that learning a language is not only about communication, but also about discovering new perspectives and cultures.

Originally hailing from Nyíregyháza, Hungary Edit possesses degrees in English and social pedagogy and has been working with children for over a decade and a half in Hungary and the United Kingdom. Her professional experiences include working as a head teacher in both private and state institutions. With her sparkling personality, Edit brings joy into the classroom by utilizing her specialties, such as arts and crafts. In her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga, cooking, and studying psychology. Sackey, Terry
Terry Sackey is a Geography and Humanities specialist with more than 11 years of teaching experience across top international schools. Registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland, Terry holds a B.Ed. in Social Sciences (Geography) and a CMI Level 3 Diploma in Management and Leadership. Known for driving outstanding student achievement across Cambridge IGCSE and A Level programs, Terry is deeply committed to inquiry-based learning, leading outdoor field trips, and supporting student development through sports and extra-curricular activities.
Santiago, Jordan
Mr. Jordan grew up in Westfield, Massachusetts, a small town in the northeastern United States. He serves as Deputy Homeroom Teacher, where he teaches 3rd grade English, Science, History, and Social Studies, in addition to English as an Additional Language for 2nd grade students. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance Management from Westfield State University, where he also represented the university's basketball program. Following his collegiate career, he competed professionally in basketball in the United Kingdom and Hungary. During this period, he pursued and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education through Anglia Ruskin University. He is excited to bring teamwork, discipline, and hard work into his classroom.
Dr. Schimert, Gabriella
Sescilla, Matthew
Matt began his teaching career in North Carolina after serving for eight years in the United States military. He was primarily a high school social studies teacher while in America, Matt expanded his teaching credentials to Global perspectives and English while teaching in Kazakhstan for four years. After which, he took a three-year sabbatical to live a minimalist lifestyle in nature, exploring his country and expanding his perspective on life. Feeling completely reinvigorated, Matt headed to Hungary to teach English and begin another chapter in his life. In his free time, he enjoys bicycling, tennis, and fitness. He is always on the lookout for a new adventure or experience.
Shoebridge, Duncan
Mr. Duncan grew up in Ashurstwood, a small village in Sussex, England. He serves as a Grade 4 homeroom teacher; he teaches ELL, Science, and International Maths. In International Maths, he also teaches in Grade 3. A true lover of sport, he represented Southampton football club and Sussex County Cricket Club from under 14s through to under 19s. After many years of being a logistics manager at TNT, where he oversaw the whole night shift operation, he moved to Hungary in 2012. Here, he started working lots with children as he was coaching and running the Bat and Ball Cricket Academy and also is in his 13th season of coaching at Buda Juniors Football Club in Budapest. He worked for 4 years as a substitute teacher here at ISB, and at the end of his 4th year, he completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Leeds University. He is now in his fourth year as a teacher and is proud to still be here at ISB, where it all started!
Székely, Ágota
Szücs, Angéla
Angéla is from the lovely city of Győr, Hungary and always had an aspiration for teaching. Being a regular participant of national mathematics competitions, she decided early on to pursue a career in mathematics education. She moved to Budapest to study in ELTE’s teacher training program and earned her Master of Education degree in teaching Mathematics and English Language and Culture.
During her university years, Angéla gained hands-on experience working as a trainee in several secondary schools across Budapest, spent a semester as an Erasmus+ student at the University of Brighton, UK, and conducted research on gamified evaluation. After graduation, she joined Spain’s bilingual education program as an English language assistant in Madrid. Alongside this role, she also taught IB HL and IGCSE Extended mathematics at an after-school academy.
Teaching has always been close to her heart, and she is delighted to be part of the International School of Budapest community. Her goal is to help students discover the beauty of mathematics, and support the development of their creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Beyond the classroom, Angéla has been a dedicated volunteer at Roots Camp (Gyökerek Tábor), a community initiative offering summer getaways for Hungarian children from less privileged backgrounds living in neighbouring countries. As part of the organizing team, she helped create an inclusive and engaging environment by coordinating logistics, cultural activities, and daily programs. She brings the same spirit of community and care to her homeroom classes. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, hiking, and crafting, the latter she often incorporates into her lesson plans to enhance student engagement and foster creativity.
Tóth, Dániel
Dániel is a Physical Education Teacher and Coach with a background in competitive swimming and a strong passion for helping students develop through movement and sport. He graduated from the Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sport Sciences with a Master’s degree in Physical Education and Corrective Physical Education. His experience as a swimmer has shaped his approach to teaching and coaching, giving him a strong appreciation for discipline, consistency, teamwork and long-term development. In his teaching, Dániel aims to create an inclusive and positive environment where students can develop their physical skills, confidence and understanding of healthy movement. He believes that PE should not only be about performance, but also about helping students build a lifelong relationship with physical activity. Alongside teaching, he works as a personal trainer and coach, helping people of different ages and abilities improve their strength, fitness, movement and overall physical development.
Van der Vlis, Iris
Ms. Iris is passionate about providing a classroom environment where students feel at home, and having students learn about the world and themselves. Originally from The Netherlands, she obtained a MSc in Educational Science and Primary Education at the University of Amsterdam. Here, she specialised in multilingual learning, inclusivity, and differentiated direct instruction. Ms. Iris is a proud founding member of ISB's Reading Club, which fosters a love for reading across grade levels. She's also a part of the event planning committee and ISB's Data Team. She enjoys working with young learners and believes that a supportive learning environment allows her students to strive for greatness. One of her favourite things about teaching at ISB is seeing how students of different backgrounds work and play together. Currently teaching Grade 2, she's excited for this school year!
Varga, Tünde
Tünde graduated from the Budapest Teacher Training College. She has taught at several schools in the capital as well as at small schools in rural areas. She has been a member of the ISB faculty since 2008. Music has been her passion since high school. She sings and plays the guitar, skills she puts to excellent use in her classes with young children. Choral music has also been an important part of her life for many years. Her dedication, along with her warm, empathetic, and welcoming personality, provides a secure foundation for the youngest students as they adjust to school. This year, she is the homeroom teacher for the second-grade class.
She has two adult daughters; one of them earned a master’s degree in England and currently lives there.
She enjoys spending her free time in the garden of her country home, and she loves hiking, traveling, and reading.
Yasin, Eymen
Eymen Yasin was born in Iraq, where he developed a deep curiosity for chemistry. This passion led him to Mosul University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry Education. Thanks to a scholarship from the Iraqi government, he pursued a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry, collaborating with Sheffield University.
In 2014, Eymen moved to Turkey, where he continued his academic journey. He received a scholarship from the Turkish government to complete his PhD in Organic Chemistry at Gebze Technical University. His hard work earned him Turkish citizenship.
Teaching has always been Eymen’s calling. He began teaching IGCSE, A-Level, and IB chemistry at international schools in Turkey in 2015. His students often achieved outstanding results, with many accepted into top UK universities.
Balancing teaching with research, Eymen has published extensively in Organic Chemistry. Despite his professional success, his greatest joy is his family. He is married and a proud father to a young son, finding fulfillment in both his career and home life.
Zatykó, Sára
Ms Sara was born in Budapest, Hungary, and spent her childhood in Calgary, Canada, where she developed a lifelong love for Canada that still feels like home whenever she visits. She holds a Master's degree from Eötvös Loránd University in teaching English as a Foreign Language and Music, with primary expertise in teaching young primary school learners. Dedicated to creating a warm, highly motivating, and safe learning environment where students can thrive while having fun, she balances her career with her passions for singing, playing piano, dancing, sports, cooking, and traveling.
Zelei, Mónika
Ms. Móni is a Teacher Assistant. She is working at ISB during the past years. After graduating, Móni had worked in the clothing and food industries but she has always wanted to work in the field of childcare and education. In the long run, she only wants to work with children. Her love for and commitment to children led her when she decided to obtain a nanny’s degree. In her spare time, Móni loves taking trips with her daughter and they play a lot with their 12-year-old dog and their hamster.
